Well, you found a good report on this topic. They are hard to come by.

The first drilling I worked on spent a couple of years in the UK (1977). It was drilling for coal gas,. There used to be a little coal gas production and probably still is as coal gas is actually "renewable." It would be interesting to to see where this industry is at today.

But no fracking for coal gas.

I'm not sure if the UK has oil & gas shales. If it has banned fracking, there probably are such shales.
