Western democracy is indeed amazing. The bulk of the population buys into this system, despite its faults, because the alternatives don’t look so great.

And it does corral our elected officials. They really can’t do things they way they would like to. Mr. Trump is struggling with his shackles.

I’m not so worried about the politicians of today. But the politicians of tomorrow will not likely be buffoons. They will be studying these times, have good knowledge of psychology and sociology, be able to build the right alliances, and then take over for a reign of several decades.
