We’ve tried all the other stuff to pick our leaders, maybe it’s time for us to try something different.

As you know Marley, I have a ulterior motive for, being on Medium. So I will just give my angle to your concluding statement.

First off, I find your article very necessary to bring into public discussion. We don’t give much thought to the “qualifications”. Part of Mr. Trump’s appeal is, I believe, that many voters believe it is easy to be an elected politician. He gives the impression that anyone can do the job, and that convinces these voters’ he is the man for the job.

In my TDG, the elected representatives at the higher levels will never come from nowhere. They will have spent considerable time at the lower levels, honing their skills for public decision making. I believe it is important that these representative make decisions such as spending $100,000 to put a pedestrian cross walk on Main Street before they are given the authority to keep or remove observer troops in a foreign country.

Plus there really won’t be a president in the TDG. The decision will be made by a council. Members of this council will have learned to work in a consultative culture and will be able find the one voice that guides the decision.
