These days, it is so easy for these big companies to incorporate offshore--and not pay taxes to the jurisdiction that allows to have a business unit to earn a profit. To me, this is the big "enshittifaction" of today's corporate culture.
I believe I have mentioned it to you before, but Dr. Fritof Capra predicted a hydrogen economy, with the currency based on hydrogen being delivered to a certain city. Maybe this idea will be eventually applied to kWhr instead, but the intent is the same.
Maybe the bitcoin phenomenon is the path, but I still do not understand how this works. Cryptocurrencies should have died a decade ago. Why people put value in this stuff is a mystery to me.
