When a business starts doing something that doesn't make sense in terms of long-term sustainability, that just might be a sign of a business is making a last-ditch attempt to save itself before it fails.

I am publishing my book on Medium, one section at a time. I'm not getting much Medium traction and that is fine. But if my book ever starts selling well, the new TOS allows Medium to also publish that book and compete directly against me.

I'll be stopping my practice in the next few days. Chapters 4 to 10 will not be on Medium.
