When I looked at the sheet music of the Beatles, I saw chords like "Esus6" and "B7+" ---and probably 10 different chords per song. Not easy to strum to!
A former roommate was a piano player in a rock band. They had a few Beatles tunes in their repertoire. This fellow could not read music, I suspect he just fit the sounds to chords he knew how to play.
