When I took the test many years ago, there were three categories that had me clearly on one side or the other. But there was one where I could have gone either way. I wondered whether the test needed a third response called "middle" to complement the yes/no approach.

But that would have meant 81 different character types (instead of 16). That would have made MB a lot more difficult to understand. Many of the WXYZ designations would sound similar to each other.

These personality help us understand the world a little better. But we should not take them so seriously.
