When I used to read The Economist quite regularly, they often had articles about the financial efficiencies of a well run public health care system, comparing Canada and the US. Apparently Canada spends about one-half the per capita rate on health care as the USA.
I have heard of a few horror stories as patients get caught up in the bureaucracy of Canada's public health care system. But not many.
In this particular article, I was often confused with which country you were talking about: Canada? US? Italy?
