When my mother was living in her house, the neighbors across the alley liked to party. Lots of friends, alcohol, noise, and many f-bombs. My mother would not go outside when they were outside.

And this is why we need laws--to help us define how far our freedoms can go. If democracy is done right, we can find a reasonable balance.

But it is naive to assume that we all can all have all the freedoms we want. Again, if democracy is done right . . .
