When one posts on FB, the FB algorithms decide on which of your friend’s walls get to see your post. There is no longer any guarantee your target audience will see the post.
The FB algorithms may have decided that you are an open minded person and can handle a little controversy. And the algorithms decided that your targeted friend cannot. The algorithms probably know more about avid FB users than the users know about themselves.
I more or less left FB a couple of summers ago. There was a family reunion that was posted several times on FB. I never saw it, and people wondered why I didn’t show up. At that time, I was getting lots of conservative-bashing-liberal memes (and vice versa). I now use FB as as address book and messaging service. Check it once a week, no more posting.
