Yesterday it was a sunny day about 15 degrees C (maybe 65 degrees American). It was actually a little hot in my car because of the sun bearing down in my interior. Three vehicles were idling, keeping the air conditioning going. Apparently, it was too much trouble to open a car window to let the cool air in. Burning fossil fuel to keep cool was the better solution.
People can make better choices. Many are not. Fuel taxes are being reduced in my part of the world. More reason to burn more.
The petroleum industry has indeed invested in the political process to delay the changes we need to make. But, at some point, a lot of the blame has to be placed on us — the people.
Unfortunately are political processes are susceptible to such manipulation. You can either keep complaining about these manipulations. Or you can help a new democracy that will put these nefarious forces to the sidelines:
