You are making some good points. But we are a long ways away from living in a liberatarian world.

What do we do with people like Tony? He may be employable because he has so much charisma, but he is a screwup.

I have known short-term users on social assistance. They just went through a rough time in life, got over their hurdles, and became contributors. Should we just leave them to their own means in their rough times?

And I have known long-term users of social assistance. They have physical and psycholoogical problems. Some of them could work 10 to 20 hours a week, but I think a full work week is out of the question for them. The jobs they take on would be for lower wages. Ten to 20 hours at low wages doesn't pay many bills.

Many will turn to petty crime. An RCMP officer told that to put a petty criminal to a judge's decision costs society $30,000. Then if we send him to prison, that's about $100,000 a year. It seems cheaper for the taxpayer to pay UBI than all the costs of addressing criminal behavior.
