You are pretty close to my thinking on this topic.

  1. Reduce the corporate tax to about 10% of profits. That way the business wizards won’t have as much incentive to create shell companies et al. And the government still gets some money for the roads and educated workforce so the business can do business.
  2. Build a consumption tax FOR EVERTHING! No exemptions whatsever. Make this tax about 15%. So when the billionaire buys his yacht, he pays his 15% on the purchase.
  3. Provide a consumption tax rebate for the poor and working poor, based on their tax returns. In this way, the tax does not put them further into poverty.

As for “lucid,” I would say my 1990s observations are probably behind the times. I wager the corporate world is using more elaborate techniques, probably to the point where I could not follow the trail. Not so lucid any more.
