I experienced a fair amount of groupthink and virtue signaling (or maybe sometimes called "political correctness") in my six years in politics. There were times when I didn't agree with certain positions in the party. The room just exhaled the vibes, "We can't talk about that." It was best to keep one's mouth shut on certain matters.

And a similar tone to my many workplaces, but less ominous. Besides, I was getting a paycheck and the jobs were not that bad.

I find it very strange that many Medium political contributors know there is something wrong with western democracy, especially the American version. While they can spend three hours a week crafting and reading political articles, they can't spend three hours to investigate my ideas. Now that is GroupThink.
