You probably have more knowledge in this topic than I, but from what I have read over the years is that these UBI trials are not UBI's in any way. The beneficiaries were selected based on their inability to find work. Not surprisingly, they didn't find work after they got their UBI, thus overstating the "freeloader effect."
My family is already on a partial UBI program, but it is not called UBI. It is called "Child Benefit Allowance". We are lower middle class. We get a monthly subsidy for our two children. That amount is based on our filed tax return.
All Canadians are eligible for this allowance. The only requirement is to be able to prove the children are residing with you. Families with a higher income than us receive a little less money. Families with less income receive a little more money.
The program gives us an additional 15% income. We both still go to work, but that $8,000 to $10,000 a year makes a big difference in what we can afford for our boys.
