The cost of a fire suppression system might be a factor. Maybe the ship's utility corridor would be too complicated with this addition. There is the cost of maintenance. Then there could be battle implications as well. Fire suppression crews just might be the best solution.

Having said that, it's not hard to believe that military groupthink could easily dismiss this concept. If nothing else, our dialogue shows that we are not confident of the experts to do their job properly.
